Proven Leadership for Maricopa County

County government has a role to play in creating the right conditions for economic growth. We’ve accomplished that through balanced, simplified regulatory policy and smart spending. I’ve advocated for a government that optimizes its resources through innovation, partnerships, and fiscal discipline.

My priorities have always been:

  • Open and transparent county budgets

  • Live and archived board meetings

  • Responsible spending that reflects community priorities

  • Focus on our core duties like investing in public safety to keep our neighborhoods safe

  • Strategic planning to create a shared vision for future development

I’m proud to be recognized by local business leaders, like the Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, for what we have accomplished. I would appreciate your continued support and I hope to earn your vote.

Government Reform

I brought a business mindset to county government. I removed burdensome government regulations keeping the balance of the mandated duties of the county. We have been proactive and constructive to honestly reform government.

  • Personnel reform at the county level

  • 43-page dust permit to 7 pages – and now online

  • Zoning restrictions streamlined for private property rights

  • Process improvements at all departments

  • Won the Sentinel Award form the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce

Communication between Governments

I worked with other local governments to resolve issues – large and small. Taxpayers benefit when we work together. We need to have open lines of communication and to be proactive in how we engage government.

Tribal partnerships resulted in:

  • STEM at the libraries

  • az211 enhancements

  • Marc Center capital improvement programs

  • Program for Veterans in need of rehabilitative housing

  • Opportunity 4 Kids

Successful partnerships with cities, the state and federal government, have resulted in much needed reforms and flood and transportation projects.

Homelessness

The number of people living on the streets of our community is growing, a problem that requires regional solutions. I am working with experts and people on the front lines to create affordable housing solutions, shelter options, and job training. By developing new programs, we can keep our neighborhoods safe and clean while providing critical resources to those who need a hand up.

Healthy Environments

Rising temperatures are a threat to quality of life and economic vitality in our county. I have worked with local partners to study the impact of urban heat, improve air quality, and ensure we have a healthy environment so future generations will live and thrive here.
