Issues

Homelessness

The number of people living on the streets of our community is growing, a problem that requires regional solutions. I am working with experts and people on the front lines to create affordable housing solutions, shelter options, and job training. By developing new programs, we can keep our neighborhoods safe and clean while providing critical resources to those who need a hand up

Healthy Environment

Rising temperatures are a threat to quality of life and economic vitality in our county. I have worked with local partners to study the impact of urban heat, improve air quality, and ensure we have a healthy environment so future generations will live and thrive here.

Community Partnership

I worked with other local governments to resolve issues – large and small. Taxpayers benefit when we work together. We need to have open lines of communication and be proactive in how we engage government. Successful partnerships with cities, the state, and federal government have resulted in much needed reforms and flood and transportation projects, including housing programs for veterans, STEM education programs at county libraries, and capital improvement programs.

Government Reforms

I bring a business mindset to county government. I removed burdensome government regulations while keeping the balance of the mandated duties of the county. We have been proactive and constructive in reforming county government, including:

Personnel reform to optimize our workforce for innovation and set equal standards for all employees. The best and brightest are rewarded and given space to grow so we can hire the best possible county employees to serve taxpayers.

Protecting our Democracy by taking an active role in the elections process to demand integrity, certify that only eligible citizens cast a ballot, and invest in new equipment to count ballots quickly and securely.
